About Cheryl

The first thing you need to know about me is that I love Jesus. I’m a wife and mother and consider myself a loyal and trustworthy friend. I’m also a cancer survivor. I’m an imperfect person seeking to glorify God and get through the good and bad that this life brings us.
My writing began back in 2013, after my precious mother received her fatal diagnosis: stage four pancreatic cancer. Anyone that came anywhere near my Momma loved and respected her. She was a godly woman who’s love language was serving others. After that diagnosis, my phone started ringing, I was getting inundated with text messages and emails, all from people who wanted to know how she was doing. As a means to save time and keep everyone updated, I started a blog. I would write a daily update, letting others know the challenges and joy-filled moments. What began as a means to provide information, became much more. At some point after I started writing, it became an outlet to help me cope through my grief. I was processing my anger, sadness, and pain all while caring for my Momma… and I didn’t even realize it was happening at that time. Looking back, it was such a blessing to be able to write and be surrounded by those who cared for and wanted to comfort me and my family.
Fast forward to 2022, when I received my diagnosis: stage two breast cancer. I hadn’t written since my Momma’s death, although at times felt compelled to… and now felt the Lord leading me to start another blog. And again, while my intended purpose was to inform and bring my “friend circle” together for support, the writing became much more. Yet again, it helped me process the range of emotions I was feeling.
During both periods, I received an abundance of encouragement and support, and I was also being encouraged to continue to write. I don’t consider myself a writer, but I have learned that often God can use people in ways that they don’t expect. I am humbled by those who have told me that something I’ve written is what they needed that day. Or that they were able to share with a loved one who is going through cancer treatments about my journey.
After my move to Florida in 2024, I was reminded that God’s plan is greater than ours. Through several different things I was reading, especially scripture, I was convicted that God gives us all a voice, and we are to use them in our own unique ways. And I was confronted with the question, “How am I using my voice?”
My alone time with God led me to start my shell art business. Again, something to help me cope through this big change in my life and use the beauty of God’s creation in the process. While I worked on art pieces, it seemed that I was also being prompted to continue writing… perhaps merging these two personal ministries into something new.
And here I am today. I would love to have you join in on my journey. I pray that you will find encouragement, hope, and be filled with joy.
What you'll find on this site...
Hope Inspired Art & Beach Joy
Low Tide Joy art combines the beauty of God's creation with His Word. I've always loved seashells, and living in Southwest Florida, I wanted to offer something unique for your home. I call it "hope-filled art." Visit my Etsy shop to see my one-of-a-kind pieces. I'll also be sending some sunshine your way by sharing about beachy things.
Encouraging Words
God's Word is truth. It is alive and active and offers us wisdom for life. I appreciate Christian authors and speakers that offer us their wisdom and experience, and point us back to scripture. In addition to my blog posts, I will be sharing some of my favorite books and resources from those who can offer us encouragement through their lens. God is so good that He surrounds us with fellow believers who are journeying through this life with us.
Idea Sharing
I do love a good Pinterest board, and chatting with others to learn something new! Why reinvent the wheel, when there are so many great ideas already out there? And often, I can't help but want to share what I've learned. I'm an "organizer" by nature, so you may find a few tips here, and I'm an avid plant lover, so you may come across something about that too. I'll keep all these goodies under the "resources" tab.
